California Route #1

Updated: Sep 21, 2019

One of my favorite road trips in America. The Californian vibes and views will capture your heart.

Snow in Yosemite National Park

Start you trip at San Francisco, we stayed in Marina District area, a vivid neighborhood with Californian sprit. Rent a bike to cross the Golden Gate Bridge towards Sausalito, a beautiful town that might break your heart. Visit Fisherman Wharf, take the ferry to famous Alcatraz Jail, ride the old city tram, visit famous Lombard street, Painted Ladies street, Presidio, and Palace of fine arts.

You must eat at Kokkari Estiatorio restaurant for fancy and authentic Greek dinner you will never forget. (book in advance)

Upper Yosemite Falls

Head North to Napa Valley for a delicious vineyards hopping and wine tasting expierence. Stay at Sonoma, and visit Castello di Amorosa Calistoga. Take a wine tour or just stop randomly along the way (some vineries requires reservation)

From Napa Valley to Yosemite National Park, hike the upper Yosemite falls trail and other daily trails. Stay two nights at the park to avoid spending time on commuting back and fort. We stayed at Half Dome Village (book in advance).

From Yosemite drive on route #1 to Santa Barbara. On the way stop for lunch at Bravo Farms, a place created of vintage restored items.

Santa Barbara; spend the day in this cool beach town. Stop along the way at this beautiful beaches; Pfeiffer Beach and Big Sur Monterey Beach. Head to the scenic coast of Malibu and Santa Monica.

Bravo Farms

Stay the night in Los Angeles; visit Hollywood walk of fame, hike at Runyon Canyon Park and if you're lucky you might see some celebrities, visit Venice Beach. From Los Angeles to San Diego for some more Californian spirit; visit Balboa Park, Coronado Beach and Gaslamp Quarter.
